For those not familiar with the term, a ring tone is a sound emitted by a mobile phone whenever there is an incoming call or message. The ring tone is a necessary sound just like a land phone has a ring to tell you that your mobile phone has a call coming in. You can also format your ringtone to either a short ring tones with a simple melody or one with a single note mobile ring tone, or one that plays several tunes simultaneously which make it sound like a mini band! Some manufacturers actually give their own names for their ring tone compositions. Motorola has their MIDI ring tones and Sagem has Hi-Fi ring tones. Nokia's true tones, allow users to have songs, nature sounds and special effects that acts as an alert of an incoming call. But each of these features or formats is highly determined by the type of handset you own.
